Support Groups


A.W.A.K.E. (Alert, Well And Keeping Energetic)
Meetings are held every other month. For those diagnosed with sleep apnea. Provides support and information about the disorder, diagnosis, and treatment. For more information, call (717) 633-2229. 


Chair Aerobics Fitness Class 
This fitness class meets every Thursday, 3–4 p.m. at Hillside Medical Fitness Center, 250 Fame Avenue, Suite 100.  Tailored for those with physical restrictions. It may be helpful to individuals with pulmonary or cardiac issues, those in physical rehab stages, those with weight loss concerns, and women in late stage pregnancy. All exercises are low impact and may be performed with or without the aid of a chair. No registration is required and the program is free for all attendees. New Beginnings Nicotine Support Group 
A dynamic, on-going, monthly gathering & discussion dedicated to the exploration, encouragement & support of a tobacco-free life. No registration or membership are required. Drop in as you like! For additional information, call (717) 633-8894. 
 
 
Better Breathers Club 
This group meets quarterly, 6–8 p.m., at Hillside Medical Center, 250 Fame Avenue, Hanover, in Conference Room 209.  Meetings occur the first Thursday of March, June, September and December each year, and each includes a presentation on a pre-determined pulmonary topic. It is geared towards supporting people with lung disease, their families and friends and anyone else interested in learning more about lung disease.  No registration is required, and the program is free for all attendees. Diabetes Table Talk

Depression Support Group
Group offers mutual support and encouragement in an accepting, understanding and confidential environment. Offered Tuesdays, 7 p.m. Reiki Share on the 1st Tuesday of the month. For more information, call (717) 646-6905.


Teen Depression Support Group
The group will be facilitated by Hospital Chaplain Eric Stenman, and assisted by Matthew Funke and Aaron Zerfoss, both of whom have dealt with depression during their own teen years. The group will emphasize hope, and that the combination of medication, one-on-one professional counseling, and group support are extremely effective resources in managing depression. Grief Support Group
A monthly group designed to offer support and coping methods for those newly bereaved, and ongoing support for others no matter how long ago the death of their loved one(s) occurred. For more information, please call (717) 646-6905. 
   

Infant Bereavement Services
For parents who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn death. Hospital chaplain, Reverend Eric Stenman, will moderate the group. It will be held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Please call (717) 646-6905 for more information.


Hanover Area Breast Cancer Support Group
This group is designed for those recently diagnosed with breast cancer as well as those who have survived breast cancer for any length of time. For more information, please contact Diana Klunk at (717) 633-1111.


Look Good – Feel Better
This free program is open to women who are going through treatment for cancer and would like assistance with wigs and applying makeup. Lymphedema Support Group

Man-to-Man Prostate Cancer Support Group 
For men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and their families and friends. For more information call (717) 633-2123.


Ostomy Support Group
Our meetings provide an informal, friendly setting for individuals who have undergone ostomies to share experiences, coping methods and education about new products and resources among one another.  Family memebers and caregivers are welcome to participate.  Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each month.  Please call (717) 646-7007 for more information.
