A Different Kind of Emergency Room Experience
Hanover Hospital's Emergency Department provides care and treatment for acute and non-acute injuries and illnesses.
The ED Physicians specialize in emergency medicine. Emergency Department Nurses have Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification and many are Certified Emergency Nurses with Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
Our recent expansion of the Emergency Department provides patients with a different kind of emergency room experience. Emphasis has been placed on increasing efficiency in patient flow, privacy and confidentiality, customer comfort and satisfaction and new state-of-the-art equipment for the entire department.
The Emergency Department has grown 110% in area from 8,700 square feet to 18,300 square feet, increasing the number of patient beds from 14 to 23. Each patient care area is a private room with telephone and television amenities for patient convenience and relaxation.
The Emergency Department is maximizing its efficiency in patient flow from admission to discharge or admission to the hospital. Each area features patient cardiac monitoring and equipment to handle a cardiac emergency. The Emergency is also equipped with a vacuum tube system to speed transmission of specimens to the laboratory improving diagnosis time. A specialized electronic patient tracking system also improves efficiency by prompting the completion of diagnostic testing. The facility also features a helipad to decrease transport time by up to one hour for those who are critically ill or injured.
Our focus on customer needs and comfort is evident in the design of the attractive, larger waiting room. The waiting room features a children's area and a video library that is accessible to our customers. Comfort, care and convenience offer patients, family and friends a different kind of Emergency Room experience at Hanover Hospital.
Hanover Hospital's Emergency Department is not a trauma center. Seriously injured trauma patients will be stabilized at Hanover Hospital and then transported to a certified trauma unit.
