Education Services Department, diabetes education and support are offered to children, adolescents, and adults in the community.

Philosophy
Hanover Hospital advocates the provision of diabetes patient education as integral to the care and management of the person with diabetes.
Staff
Diabetes counseling is provided by registered nurses and a dietitian who are specialized in diabetes management and are Certified Diabetes Educators. The full service Diabetes Self-Management and Education Program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association.
Referrals
Health care providers and individuals with diabetes may contact the Diabetes Educators to schedule an appointment or register for a class by calling (717) 633-4208. All individuals must have a completed referral form from their physician prior to scheduling an appointment.
Fees
Insurance reimbursement may be available from Medicare, Blue Cross, Keystone and other insurance carriers. The cost of the group class includes a one hour pre-class assessment, nine hours of group instruction and follow-up appointments at: one month, six months and one year. Family members or support persons are invited to attend at no additional charge.
